“President Trump was born for this moment,” Trump senior adviser Dan Scavino said ahead of the start of the Republican National Convention, adding that the “last 36 hours have been the most surreal of our lifetimes.”
“The Trump campaign looks forward to a week of the 2024 Republican National Convention here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin!,” Scavino said. Trump arrived in the city on Sunday after making it clear that he “cannot allow a ‘gunman’ or potential assassin to force any schedule or other changes.”
“For all of us on the Trump campaign, the last 36 hours have been the most surreal of our lives. As we process this together, we are working even harder to win the 2024 presidential election and return President Donald J. Trump to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue,” he said, adding, “There is no doubt that President Trump was born for this moment.”
“We will never see anyone like him again in our lifetimes. He is a courageous leader who never backs down as he fights every day for you, the American people,” he said, noting that “it’s time to put America first and make America great again!” That’s Thursday’s theme for the convention, which will feature a different theme each day.
“On behalf of the Trump Campaign, I thank President Trump, his wonderful family, and all of us who represent and work on the Trump Campaign for your prayers and support. We are forever grateful… Let’s get this done!” he added.

His message came early Monday as Republicans prepared to formally nominate Trump, who survived an assassination attempt on Saturday, as their party’s presidential candidate.

Trump, who claims he only owes his survival to “God”, said he had rewritten his speech in response to the weekend tragedy.
“The speech I was going to give on Thursday was going to be great,” he said. Said of Washington Examiner“If this hadn’t happened, this would have been one of the greatest speeches ever.”
“Honestly, this speech is going to be very different,” he said, adding, “This is an opportunity to bring the whole country, even the whole world, together. This speech is going to be very different than it was two days ago.”
