Previous associate of Musk claims former DOGE leader will 'do anything to harm' Trump

Philip Law, a former friend of Elon Musk, claimed in a recent interview that Musk is determined to undermine President Donald Trump. Law, who has known Musk for several years, expressed his belief that Musk’s primary focus is to cause damage to Trump’s reputation.

“I’ve had my fair share of moments with Elon,” Law commented. “It’s clear to me he’s going to do everything he can to hurt the president.” In a post from June, Musk referred to a particular piece of legislation as “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” while expressing concerns that it would lead to the loss of millions of jobs and pose significant strategic risks to the nation.

Law added, “He was really put in a tough spot. The notion that Elon is on his side and trying to support him, especially with backing right-wing judges, well, I think that’s complicated.” It seems things are a bit more convoluted than they appear on the surface.

In terms of broader political dynamics, Trump’s allies in the Senate brushed off Musk’s push to “kill the bill,” suggesting that Musk’s influence is limited. After a protracted negotiation process, Senate Republicans managed to move the bill past procedural barriers with a 51-49 vote.

Law, who has a background as a neuroscientist, mentioned that he had interacted with Musk for about 14 years. Their relationship took a turn when Law claimed Musk attempted to take control of Neurovigil’s advisory board, leading to his removal from the board. Despite some recent claims of reconciliation, Law implied there’s a lingering tension, noting that Musk even apologized while Trump insisted there are no hard feelings.

White House spokesperson Harrison Fields dismissed the idea that there’s any significant friction, asserting that the president is focused on border security and economic renewal rather than political maneuvering.

As this political drama unfolds, it seems Musk’s role as a possible influencer—especially among Trump supporters—remains uncertain and perhaps even precarious. Law remarked that Musk’s position could either bolster or undermine Trump’s political standing, depending on how things develop moving forward. Meanwhile, the Congressional Budget Office estimates that the proposed legislation could add trillions to an already soaring national debt, a situation many find alarming.
