Previously unseen 'Today' show clips featuring Nancy Guthrie offer a look into her Tucson house: 'Love you mom'

This past Wednesday, a segment from over a decade ago featuring Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing, came back into the spotlight. The segment offered a rare look inside her bedroom in Tucson.

In a 2013 clip, the then 71-year-old Nancy shared her early morning bed-making ritual with her daughter Savannah Guthrie and her “Today” show colleagues, all while inside her suburban million-dollar home.

“I think it’s important for everyone to know how to make a bed, so when it’s time to teach them, I can say, ‘That’s what I was trying to teach you,’” Nancy remarked, playfully poking fun at Savannah’s less-than-tidy morning habits.

Savannah candidly admitted that her own approach was more about “just rolling out” of bed immediately after waking up.

“All three of my kids thought [making the bed] was a totally useless skill,” Nancy added.

At one point, “Today” alum Natalie Morales joked about how perfectly Nancy tucked the sheets, claiming they were so tight you could bounce a quarter off them. Nancy playfully warned, “Don’t test me, Natalie. It’s still early.”

Despite the early hour, Nancy was busy perfecting her bed and generously shared her strategies, all while humming a cheerful war tune.

Meanwhile, in the “Today” studio at Rockefeller Center, Savannah and her co-hosts attempted to replicate Nancy’s meticulous methods.

Al Roker and Morales closely followed Nancy’s instructions, with Savannah adding the finishing touches. Nancy seemed pleased, though Savannah suggested she take a break, joking, “I’ll teach you a skill! Being awake at this hour is called a ‘nap.’”

“I love you, Mom,” she added warmly.

Nancy, who is now 84, has resided in the same Tucson home since the 1970s. Authorities suspect she was kidnapped from her residence on the morning of February 1st.

Megyn Kelly brought the segment back into the conversation on Wednesday, speculating that Nancy’s bedroom most likely remains unchanged since that 2013 feature.

The room’s decor included beige tones, accented by red and blue cushions. A flat-screen TV was situated against a small bookshelf, and her nightstand featured small flowers and a simple lamp, all visible from a nearby window.

Kelly noted, “The important thing is that you can see right into her bedroom, giving a clear idea of how it was arranged, and she still lives in that same house.”

Nancy’s baffling disappearance has now entered its fifth week.
