Prince Harry Makes Surprise Visit to Ukraine

Prince Harry has unexpectedly added a destination to his current overseas trip. After arriving in London earlier this week, he flew to Ukraine on Friday to support injured service members, marking his first reunion with his father, King Charles, in over a year.

According to reports, Harry landed in Kiev, but details about his itinerary were kept under wraps for security reasons.

Following his arrival, he is expected to visit the Ukrainian History Museum in World War II and spend time with around 200 veterans, including a meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Swilydenko. Harry expressed his thoughts on the ongoing conflict, stating, “We can’t stop the war, but all we can do is do everything we can to help with the recovery process.” He emphasized the importance of “humanizing those involved in this war and what they are going through.” He hopes his visit brings attention to the reality of the ongoing situation.

This trip marks Harry’s second visit to Ukraine since the outset of the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022. Previously, he visited Lviv in April, where he met with individuals at the Superhuman Trauma Center, an organization dedicated to rehabilitating war victims. Reflecting on that trip, he recalled discussing the impact of his presence with Olga Ludnieva, the center’s founder, before committing to return to Ukraine.

Harry noted the contrasts between his earlier visit to Lviv and his current experience in Kiev, stating, “In Lviv, you haven’t seen much of the war. It’s so far in the west. This is the first time you’ve seen the real destruction of war.”

News of Harry’s visit coincides with his meeting with King Charles at Clarence House in London on Wednesday. After this meeting, Harry mentioned briefly to a Royal Watcher that his father was doing well. He had returned to the UK on September 8 to support various causes, also paying homage to his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, on the third anniversary of her passing.

A source revealed that meetings between Harry and Charles are significant given the family’s recent struggles. Reports suggest that their communication had been sporadic, with Harry expressing a desire to reconcile. In a previous interview, he stated, “I hope to reconcile with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore.” He was candid about his uncertainty regarding the future, saying, “I don’t know how long my dad has.”
