Prince William surprised students at a British high school with an update on Duchess Kate.
The Prince of Wales made a surprise appearance at St Michael’s Church of England High School on Thursday after receiving a letter from one of his pupils, Freddie Hadley, in October.
“There are a lot of people who write letters, but Freddie’s letter was really well written. He promised he would come,” he told school officials during his visit, according to the Daily Mail. “It’s a shame that Katherine can’t be here too. She would have loved to have gone too.”
His visit to the school comes just a month after Middleton revealed in a video that she had been diagnosed with cancer.

The royal couple first learned about Freddie and his classmates when he wrote them a letter inviting them to an event their school was hosting to mark World Mental Health Day. Although William was unable to attend, he apologized to Freddie on ” he encouraged.

During his surprise visit, William didn’t just talk about how his mental health issues were impacting his personal life. He also showed viewers his kinder side when he told jokes.
“I’m with the gang here talking about men’s mental health, and I was asked to make a dad joke. Most of Jack Whitehall’s jokes are dad-ish, so I “I was trying to introduce you to Jack Whitehall,” he was quoted as saying. I will report it. “I think what I’m going to do is tell Charlotte’s favorite joke right now, which is the joke she keeps telling me.”
He went on to tell a knock-knock joke. When the students asked, “Who is that there?” William answered, “It’s the cow that’s bothering you,” and before they could finish asking, “Who’s the cow that’s bothering you?” Ta. William interrupted, saying, “Moo!”

After getting a few laughs from the audience, William explained that it was “the best piece of work” he could have considered “clean and broadcastable.”
“That’s fine, that’s fine,” Freddie assured him.
In an attempt to surprise Freddie, school officials told him they were planning to meet with a police inspector from the West Midlands. Prince William stepped out of the motorcade instead, and Freddie told People magazine it was a “huge shock” to see him.

“So this is the young man who started it all. It’s so nice to meet you. Thank you for your letter,” William said.
Freddie replied, “You’re welcome.”

In the letter, Freddie identifies himself as the head of The Matrix Project, which aims to eliminate stigma surrounding mental health, especially for men. The focus is on early intervention, and from the age of 11 he focuses his energies on boys as young as 14. They meet to brainstorm the best ways to overcome mental health challenges.

“He’s a very nice guy,” Freddie told People. “When I talked to him about what he was doing in school with the Matrix Project, I felt more at ease and could relate to his way of thinking about it. He asked Men’s Mental Health Advocate why we do this.
