Princess Eugenie of Hanover, 23, shares the challenges of her royal title, noting it led to issues in school

Princess Eugenia of Hanover Shares Insights on Her Royal Title

Princess Eugenia of Hanover opened up about her royal title, revealing that it led to various challenges during her school years.

The 23-year-old, part of the German royal family, mentioned that the title “means nothing,” as she discussed the difficulties stemming from her heritage.

Eugenia resides in Vienna and is the sister of Prince Ernst and the daughter of Prince Heinrich of Hanover. Her mother is Princess Tyra von Western Hagern, who is 51.

Her family is connected to Princess Caroline of Monaco, giving them ties to the Monegasque royal family. However, Eugenia contends that her royal title has been more of a hindrance than a help.

“In school, some teachers had a problem with me because of my title. They made remarks that sometimes sounded nice but often just weren’t fair,” she shared with Tatler.

“While I’m interested in my family’s history, it doesn’t translate into my daily life. In Germany, it’s just a name that doesn’t hold much meaning anymore.” She noted that she doesn’t see herself as fundamentally different from others.

Eugenia remarked that she “really doesn’t care about school,” preferring to focus on caring for horses instead. Nevertheless, she continued her education by enrolling in a reputable institution in Vienna to study medicine.

Her grandfather, Prince Ernest Augustus of Hanover, also followed a similar educational path, eventually becoming a professor specializing in ear, nose, and throat issues.

Alongside her studies, Eugenia has embarked on a modeling career. She admits that her parents feel a bit “anxious” about this new interest, especially her mother, who once took her to a photoshoot, which she found a bit intimidating.

“Now, I’m really content with my life; it feels stable,” she said. “If I focused only on modeling, I think it might complicate things.” She added that with just two more years left to complete her medical training, she’s committed to that path, considering it more worthwhile than straying into the fashion world.
