Princess Kate will make her second public appearance since announcing her cancer diagnosis at Wimbledon on Sunday.
Kensington Palace confirmed Associated Press On Saturday, Kate will be in the Royal Box on Centre Court to watch the match between defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic. She will not be attending Saturday’s women’s final between Jasmine Paolini and Barbora Krejcikova.
Kate has been the patron of the All England Club since 2016, and her ceremonial duties include handing over the trophies after the men’s and women’s singles finals. Kate will not perform those duties this year, and instead All England Club chairman Deborah Jevans will hand over the trophies, Wimbledon organizers told The Associated Press.
Kate’s husband, Prince William, is also a regular at Wimbledon finals, but he won’t be attending this year’s event – instead, he will be attending the Euro 2020 final between England and Spain in his role as chairman of the Football Association.
Prince Charles announced his cancer diagnosis in March after several months of no public appearances sparking weeks of speculation about his health.
Kensington Palace announced in January that Queen Elizabeth had undergone “successful” abdominal surgery. The mother of three said she found out she had cancer after undergoing abdominal surgery.
News of Kate’s diagnosis came shortly after Buckingham Palace announced in February that King Charles III had been diagnosed with cancer.
Kate attended King Charles’ 75th birthday celebration in June, marking her first public appearance since announcing her diagnosis.
Ahead of her comeback show, Kate provided an update on her health, saying she was “recovering well,” but added that her treatment was “still ongoing and will take several more months.”
“I am recovering well but as anyone undergoing chemotherapy knows, there are good days and bad days. On the bad days I feel weak and tired and all I can do is rest. But on the good days I feel better and I want to make the most of it,” she said.
