Prince Charles made his first public appearance since announcing his cancer diagnosis, attending the Flag March in a horse-drawn carriage with his three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Kate Middleton was photographed arriving at the event by car wearing a white outfit with navy details.
King Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, rode in a horse-drawn carriage in the royal procession, preceded by the Princess of Wales.
Prior to the event, Kate statement“I am looking forward to taking part in the King’s Birthday Parade with my family this weekend and I hope to take part in some public events over the summer, but at the same time I know the crisis is not over yet.
“I am learning to be patient, especially in times of uncertainty.
“I just try to take each day as it comes, listen to my body, and take the time it needs to recover.”
Prince Charles and Meghan said she is “recovering well” but “there are good days and bad days.” “On the bad days you feel weak and tired and you just need to rest. But on the good days you feel strong and want to make the most of how you’re doing.” She added that her treatment will continue for “a few more months.”
A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “Her Majesty is delighted that The Princess will be able to attend tomorrow’s event and is very much looking forward to everything the day has to offer.”
The celebrations have been held on the monarch’s birthday for over 260 years and see the 9th Company of the Irish Guards, the regiment which Kate represents as a colonel, march under the royal standard.
In a letter read to the regiment last week, Prince Charles, who is undergoing chemotherapy, apologised for not being able to salute the Irish Guards and wished them well. Lieutenant-General James Bucknall will salute on Charles’ behalf.
The monarch, who is also undergoing treatment for cancer, will not ride a horse during the ceremony, but will instead inspect the parade from an Ascot landau carriage. The monarch first rode in a horse-drawn carriage at the age of three, accompanied by his grandmother, the Queen Mother.
