Pritzker expects DNC to be 'like a rock concert'

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker (D) expects the enthusiasm for Harris to continue at this week’s Democratic National Convention, which he said on Sunday would be “like a rock concert.”

Pritzker said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that the Democratic National Convention will honor President Biden’s work as the party continues to back Harris and his new running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, a Democrat. The convention kicks off in Chicago on Monday.

“So we [Biden]”You’re also going to see how Kamala Harris has brought the party together with my good friend and fellow Midwest governor, Tim Walz, who, you know, is a regular guy, someone that everyone can relate to,” he said.

“So I think that collection, that pair has turned the place into, well, quite frankly, a bit of a rock concert. I think people will be cheering and pretty excited,” he added.

Pritzker also said Harris has revitalized the party in a way not seen since former President Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential run.

“This candidate has energized the party in a way we haven’t seen since 2008. And when you think about it, I’ve been to every convention since I got the right to vote, and I’ve never felt this kind of energy and enthusiasm outside of a Barack Obama convention.”

Harris will be hoping to keep the Democratic Party’s momentum going into the national convention this week. She has been galvanizing Democrats in the weeks since she launched her campaign, narrowing the gap with former President Trump in many national and battleground state polls.
