Country rock singer and former Staind lead vocalist Aaron Lewis spoke about the failed cancellation in an interview with FOX News Digital.
Lewis responded to the controversy surrounding his solo album: the hill. Lewis has been controversial in the past for his support of former President Donald Trump, his criticism of President Biden, and his support for the U.S. Constitution and the “core” American values.
However, when asked about concerns about cancellation, a danger Lewis has faced in recent years, the singer said he was not particularly worried.

“There are already things out there that make everyone uncomfortable,” he says. “Some of the songs on the record that some people may find offensive have already been released.”
“They’re already licking,” he said. “It’s funny. They lick them, and I play sold-out shows. So accept your lick. Accept your lick if it makes you feel better. It’s me. It really doesn’t affect.”
“When I released ‘Am I the Only One,’ there was a public outcry calling for my cancellation and loss of my record contract, and the head of the record company said, ‘Absolutely not.’ “It’s about being an artist and being able to speak your mind and having the freedom of speech to do so,” Lewis told FOX News Digital. “What kind of art is someone teaching you how to make?”
Lewis said he also opposes the loss of American patriotism and the destruction of Civil War-era statues, as well as the destruction of liberal singer Bruce Springsteen’s popular song “Am I the Only One.”

Lewis said Americans don’t have to agree on every issue, but it’s important to believe in “core values,” including the Constitution.
“It appears that there is a deliberate mechanism to try to destroy these values and destroy the fabric of America,” he said.
“The Constitution is what gives this country to our people,” Lewis continued. “This country does not belong to the government. We have allowed it to become that way simply out of laziness and disconnection.”
Asked about the role mainstream news outlets play in advancing American values, Lewis was adamant that the media is primarily harmful.
“It is our responsibility. We are the custodians of this country and it is our responsibility to hand this country over to the next generation in better condition and condition than we received it. It’s failing.”

Ahead of the 2024 presidential election, Lewis said he only has a handful of favorite politicians, including former President Trump, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
Lewis said his message to Americans is to end division and return to constitutional, rock-solid American values.
“As an American, I feel a strong responsibility to protect, improve, and save this country that I was so lucky to be born in,” he said.
