Last week, at a confirmation hearing from the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. tried to present himself as a moderate voice on abortion.
He claimed he had a “change of heart” on the issue; New booking expression I propose that the latter process be considered and that he considers policies that “reflect the values of all Americans.”
But let's make it clear. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had advocated abortion on demand for his entire career. His nomination is further evidence that Donald Trump is not the champion of the anti-abortion cause.
For years, Kennedy has been in line with the most extreme elements of the abortion rights lobby. He was a vocalist Supporters Even taxpayer-funded abortion and its radical ideas Abortion must be legal until birth No restrictions. His commitment to this ideology is not merely rhetorical, but deeply immers himself in his policy position.
He has consistently supported the agenda of Planned Parents and Naral, an organization that has worked tirelessly to eliminate the protection of fetal and silent pro-life voices. Now, in an obvious effort to alleviate concerns among conservatives, Kennedy suddenly shows a more nuanced approach. But this is not a sincere evolution. It's a politically convenient act.
Kennedy never supported meaningful pro-life protections, and his records speak louder than carefully prepared statements made under the bright light of a confirmation hearing. His nomination was also reported by Donald Trump. He is most life support president in American history.“
Trump repeated this claim, and Roev with his judicial appointment. He pointed out his role in overturning Wade. But actions speak more eloquent than words. If Trump was really committed to life support, he wouldn't nominate someone like Kennedy to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, which oversees important policies related to life and family.
The HHS secretary plays a pivotal role in shaping abortion policies in the United States. Under the Biden administration, HHS has transformed into an extremist advocacy division of abortion rights, suppressing the protection of conscience for doctors, Expanding abortion pill access and Funding for overseas abortion groups. If Kennedy is confirmed, you can expect the same thing. He wields federal policies with powers to establish abortion, and makes the state pass life-affirming laws, making it even more difficult for anti-abortion health professionals to exercise their rights of conscience.
Americans of life cannot be fooled by empty words and strategic pivots. I've seen this playbook before.
Politicians who advocate “evolving” abortions when convenient, can mostly take power once in their radical attitudes. Kennedy's record is clear, and the life support movement should clearly reject his appointment.
Trump's decision to boost Kennedy should also serve as a wake-up call. The movement cannot afford to provide politicians with blind loyalty. In particular, those who have shown over and over again that they are willing to compromise on the issue of protecting human lives. If Trump had truly believed in protecting the unborn child, he would never have chosen someone with Kennedy history. The fact that he did should create all voters against abortion, where his priorities lie.
Life support movements remain immobilized in their principles and must be held accountable to their leaders, regardless of their party. We overturned Roe vs Wade for decades, but that victory was by no means an end goal. That was just the beginning. We cannot allow a government that argues that is life-supporting to establish an HHS secretary against everything we support.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will be one of the most pro-aborative secretaries in American history.
His appointment is a shame for millions of Americans who believe in the dignity of life. And if Trump really cared about protecting the unborn child, he would soon retract this nomination. Until then, the movement of life must stand strong against the other. This is because when it comes to protecting life, there is no room for radical pro-aboration extremism.
