Professional wrestling is known to be an incredibly tough sport, with countless wrestlers around the world striving to carve out their own niches, transforming from lesser-known competitors into widely recognized stars.
However, managing a wrestling promotion and organizing a show is an entirely different challenge. Up-and-coming independent wrestler Dono Hefner is stepping up to tackle this daunting task.
Hefner, at just 20 years old, proudly refers to himself as the “most OverAF independent professional wrestler” currently in the scene. He has plans to host an event titled Too Over To Care in Washington, D.C., on February 27, 2027. In a recent chat, he seemed eager to stir the pot and draw attention to his upcoming event, even taking a jab at former WWE star JTG, now known as Jay Tha Gawd, labeling him as “soft” and asserting he could back it up at any time, anywhere.
Despite the banter, Hefner remains enthusiastic about the challenges that come with running his own show. “I thrive on challenges,” he said. “I like having pressure on me. I know I’m good at this wrestling thing, so why not raise the stakes? I want to create opportunities for others who often get overlooked in the wrestling world because of the politics involved. I’m not just doing this for myself; it’s about everyone who deserves a chance.”
One of the more complicated aspects of organizing the show, Hefner shared, has been the necessity of saying “no” to some potential participants. “You can’t put everyone on a card,” he explained. “When a new show is announced, everyone wants in. But that’s just part of the process. Other than that, things have been running pretty smoothly, at least for now since we still have time ahead of us.”
Among those set to appear at Too Over To Care are the tag team duo Top Team, made up of Jay Lucas and Terry Yaki, alongside Chulo Montana and Ykies, collectively known as Sexy & Blessed.
In an ideal scenario, Hefner hopes to secure a dream match against independent wrestling legend Joey Janela. “I really think that match could create a buzz,” he remarked. “It would definitely get people talking about me afterward.”
For now, as the event date approaches, Hefner continues to build his presence among wrestling fans leading up to Too Over To Care.
