Pro Wrestling Legend Sid Vicious Dead at 63

Professional wrestling legend Sid Eudy, who became famous as “Sid Vicious” in the 1990s, has died at the age of 63, according to reports.

The wrestling giant's family told fans on Facebook that Eudy passed away “after a multi-year battle with cancer.”

A Facebook message posted by Eudy's son Gunnar thanked fans for their support.

“In memory of my father, Sid Eudy,” Gunnar wrote.

“It is with great sadness that I announce that my father, Sid Eudy, has passed away after several years of battling cancer. He was a man of strength, kindness and love, and I will miss him so much,” Eudy continued.

“We are mourning this loss and appreciate your thoughts and prayers. Details of a memorial service will be announced soon. Thank you for your support,” he concluded.

Wrestling as Sid Vicious, Eudy won the WWF Championship, WCW World Heavyweight Championship, and USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship twice each, dominating the Double Crown Series.

He was a major hero on the mat and headlined many pay-per-view matches, as well as competing at WWF's WrestleMania VIII and 13 in 1992 and 1997.

“One of the most brutal superstars to ever terrorize WWE, the sadistic Sid brought an unbridled intensity,” his WWE Bio “Just ask the ring legends who have incurred his wrath. The list includes Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan, Bret 'The Hitman' Hart and many others.”

Eudy joined the WCE in 1989, then moved to WWE in 1991, where he won the WWE Championship in 1996 and 1997. He then became known as “The Ruler of the World.”

Tributes for the former star have poured in. Wrestler Booker T. Huffman credited Vicious with helping him get his start.

Eudy is survived by his wife Sabrina, Gunnar and another son, Frank.
