James Barker, Love Island USA Executive Producer, Passes Away in Fiji

James Barker, the executive producer of the hit reality series Love Island USA, has reportedly died while filming in Fiji.

The show’s network confirmed his death in a statement to TMZ, which was released on June 15th.

“ITV America and Peacock remember James Barker, executive producer of Love Island USA. Mr. Barker sadly passed away in Fiji last week due to an unexpected medical emergency,” they remarked.

They also expressed their condolences, stating: “James’ loss is deeply felt across the entire Love Island USA production, as well as within ITV and Peacock.”

Details regarding the circumstances of his death and the official cause have not yet been disclosed, as per TMZ.

The network shared further tributes, noting, “He was a cherished and highly regarded member of our team, and his kindness, talent, and commitment made a lasting impression on all of us and those fortunate enough to know and work with him.”

They added, “We extend our heartfelt condolences to James’ partner, family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.”

Barker became part of the Love Island USA team in 2020 and shifted into the role of full-time executive producer in January 2026, following several years of involvement with the series, according to his LinkedIn profile.

His previous production credits included familiar names like “Counting Cars,” “Forged in Fire,” “Pawn Stars,” “Queer Eye,” and “Love Island Games,” amongst others.

In addition, Barker contributed his expertise to shows produced by Scout Productions, Sharp Entertainment, and Kinetic Content.
