A political action committee (PAC), which has invested millions in campaigns for various Democratic candidates, attributes a recent shooting at an ICE facility in Dallas, Texas, to immigrants and customs enforcement. They claim that ICE’s actions resulted in a loss of life.
The shooter, who opened fire at the facility, exemplifies the PAC’s narrative that ICE “kills migrants.” This PAC has financially supported figures like New York’s Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who is part of a faction seen as the left-wing in Congress.
Authorities identified 29-year-old Joshua Yarn as the shooter, who, in a random attack, killed one detainee and injured two others before being shot himself. Evidence left behind includes a bullet casing and a message indicating his intent to instill fear in ICE agents, with the Justice Department labeling the incident as “terrorism.”
The Democrats involved did not reply to inquiries from a news outlet regarding the situation.
The FBI is actively gathering data and processing evidence related to the case, assuring the public of timely updates.
Following the shooting, concerns were raised about the treatment of detainees, with statistics showing multiple deaths in ICE custody since the past administration took office. Initially reported as two fatalities, officials later confirmed the incident resulted in one death with two individuals in critical condition.
Tricia McLaughlin from Homeland Security criticized politicians for politicizing these tragic events, stating they are fanning the flames of division through misleading narratives.
This PAC has also contributed to the campaign funds of politicians like Delia Ramirez, with records revealing significant financial support for Ocasio-Cortez during her election cycle.
Despite requests, the campaigns of Ocasio-Cortez and Ramirez provided no comments. Both are campaigning for re-election in the upcoming cycle.
The Justice Democrats have outlined their intentions to abolish ICE, asserting that people have gone missing under the agency’s watch. They cited a report revealing that many detainees at a Florida facility were unaccounted for.
In response, Homeland Security flatly dismissed claims of mass disappearances among immigrants, labeling them as hoaxes and denying any deaths in their detention facilities.
McLaughlin expressed disappointment in the political environment, suggesting that the rhetoric being employed by both sides has only intensified amidst the tragedy. She noted the need for an end to the dehumanization of immigration enforcement personnel.
The recent attack at the ICE facility followed similar violent incidents in Texas, prompting condemnation from Trump officials regarding the escalating hostility toward immigration authorities, largely fueled by political discourse.
McLaughlin reiterated the tragic nature of deaths in custody, emphasizing that all such cases warrant thorough investigation and calling for an end to the violence against law enforcement officials.
