Prosecution, Judge ‘Rushing’ Trial to Hurt Him Before Election

Former President Donald Trump has criticized the pace of his trial in a Manhattan business records tampering case, saying prosecutors and Judge Juan Mercian are trying to rush the trial to damage Trump before the election. Ta.

“This lawsuit … should never have been filed, but it should have been filed seven or eight years ago. They didn’t do it because they wanted to bring it up in the middle of an election, especially when we’re leading in every poll. Because we are doing so,” President Trump said in remarks to reporters Thursday afternoon.

“They’re trying to rush it to end before the election so they can harm me, harm their political opponents,” Trump said. “They’re in a hurry. All this rush. There’s no hurry. These trials take forever. But this, they’re in a hurry. We came here early in the morning. I’ll leave in the evening.”

Trump said Marchand wanted more court time “to quickly bring this matter to a close before the election.”

There will be no court session Friday because President Trump requested special leave to attend his son Barron’s high school graduation.

Mr. Trump’s team is scheduled to make a full argument on Monday, and both sides could make closing arguments as early as Tuesday.
