Protesters and Gavin Newsom shout at JD Vance while he visits Disneyland with his family

Protests at Disneyland as Vice President Vance Visits

California Governor Gavin Newsom and a group of protesters directed their attention toward Vice President JD Vance during his family visit to Disneyland this weekend.

Newsom shared a post on social media featuring a video of Vance enjoying time at the park with his family, accompanying it with the message, “Enjoy your family time.”

As reported, temporary flight restrictions were enforced around the theme park over the weekend, enhancing security across the location. Orange County Supervisor Vicente Salmiento commented on Vance’s visit, suggesting it was politically charged.

“We welcome him to our community and hope he sees how hard-working our immigrant population is, contributing significantly to our nation,” Salmiento expressed. He hoped for cooperation from the administration to change policies that seem detrimental to the community.

Despite acknowledging the importance of the office, Salmiento stated, “I respect the office, but I don’t respect their policies.”

According to reports, about 100 to 150 protesters gathered near Disneyland’s entrance on Friday and Saturday, voicing their dissent regarding Vance’s presence there.

The protest also extended to Anaheim, with a small group assembling at a hotel near the park where Vance was thought to be staying. Several attendees were seen waving Mexican flags.

Vance had approached this trip as a personal vacation and did not publicize any political statements beforehand. Meanwhile, some local Republicans advocated for dialogue instead of protest.

“I think it’s a chance to engage positively rather than criticize,” said Republican Don Wagner from Orange County. He highlighted the need for discussion regarding local issues, mentioning concerns about immigration operations.
