Widespread Anti-Government Protests Erupt in Iran
The Iranian government is currently facing one of the largest anti-regime movements seen in decades, as violent protests continue to spread throughout the nation.
Reza Pahlavi, the exiled crown prince and son of Iran’s last shah, mentioned on “Hannity” that never before has there been such a significant chance to topple the regime. “More than 100 cities and millions of people are in the streets shouting ‘Death to the dictator’,” he stated.
Footage shared online shows thousands taking to the streets in massive demonstrations. Many protesters are expressing their frustration over the increasingly dire economic conditions and the steady devaluation of Iran’s currency.
At Least 36 Reported Dead Amid Ongoing Unrest
Reports indicate that at least 36 individuals have lost their lives during these protests, with thousands detained by law enforcement. According to Human Rights Activist News Agency (HRA), despite the violence, Pahlavi affirmed that the people remain dedicated to ending the current regime.
“The regime is collapsing and is very close to a complete breakdown,” he commented. Pahlavi highlighted that this movement is different from previous protests, noting the active involvement of the powerful merchant class.
In Tehran, video evidence shows shopkeepers in the Grand Bazaar facing off against security personnel in riot gear.
Pahlavi expressed his hope that military forces would relent and support the people in seeking a resolution. He also referred to President Trump’s recent statements, indicating that if the Iranian regime harmed protesters, the United States would be prepared to intervene.
President Trump reportedly stated, “We are locked, loaded and ready to go,” while discussing potential U.S. actions in response to the situation in Iran.
In contrast, an Iranian general labeled Trump’s remarks as a “threat,” asserting that there would be repercussions.
Ultimately, Pahlavi expressed a desire to return to Iran if the regime were to collapse, emphasizing his hope for a peaceful transition through a referendum and a constitutional assembly.
