Psaki refutes the notion of a Biden mental ‘cover up’

Psaki Addresses Concerns on Biden’s Mental State

Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki stated that she found no indications of any “concealment” regarding former President Biden’s mental acuity as the 2024 election approaches. She also expressed skepticism about her former colleagues being involved in any such issues.

Psaki, who served as Biden’s spokesperson from 2021 to 2022 and now hosts a show on MSNBC, discussed her views on Semafor’s “Mixed Signals” podcast. During the conversation, host Ben Smith mentioned concerns over Biden’s mental capabilities, questioning whether the White House and media were overshadowing the topic.

“I believe the term ‘cover-up’ carries a lot of weight,” Psaki remarked. “After leaving in May 2022, I hadn’t interacted with him until a holiday party last December, so it’s hard for me to gauge.” She emphasized that her encounters in the Oval Office didn’t offer insights into any decline.

Referencing Biden’s challenging debate with Trump, she noted, “I’m not a doctor, but aging can occur rapidly.” When pressed by Smith about whether any colleagues had suggested Biden was hiding his mental state, she reiterated her belief that “cover-up” is an overly severe term.

“When you use words like ‘concealment,’ it implies wrongdoing, like a crime,” she said. “It’s a word that brings to mind situations like Watergate or other significant scandals.” While she acknowledged a lack of communication with current insiders, Psaki mentioned many individuals featured in books about the 2024 election, asserting that Biden’s team consists of “good people.”

Finally, Psaki noted that some believe there’s an effort to keep the public in the dark about Biden’s personal situation, suggesting uncertainties remain. Following Biden’s only debate with Trump last year, concerns about his mental health began to circulate, sparking intense discussions about his viability in the race.
