New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu stepped in to help a man on Sunday who began choking during a lobster roll eating contest.
Sununu was taking part in the Hampton Beach Lobster Roll Eating Contest in Hampton, New Hampshire, when one of the contestants at the side of the stage began pounding his chest while eating the New England specialty.
“The gentleman at the very end, I was looking at, I took a quick look and I could tell right away. He paused for a moment and was having a hard time writing something down,” Sununu said. He told WMUR-TV.
Contestant Christian Moreno told the station that the governor was the first to notice he was choking.

“My counter guy came up to me and joked, 'Oh man, who else can say they've ever received the Heimlich maneuver from the governor?' And I looked at him and I was like, 'Oh, that was the governor,'” Moreno said.

The Republican governor said that rushing to help while the campaign was ongoing was “wild in itself,” adding that what happened after he blocked Moreno's windpipe was even more surprising.

“He went right back into the contest. I couldn't believe it. He then ate seven more lobster rolls,” Sununu told the outlet. “He ate them all the way down his throat.”
