‘Quit It’: Charlamagne Questions Former DNC Chair Jaime Harrison About Not Urging Biden To Withdraw

Charlamagne Tha God Confronts Jame Harrison on Biden’s Campaign

During an episode of “The Breakfast Club,” radio host Charlamagne Tha God pressed former Democratic National Committee (DNC) chair Jame Harrison over Joe Biden’s choice not to withdraw from his 2024 reelection campaign. Biden didn’t officially drop out until July 21, 2024, following heavy scrutiny from his party after a challenging debate the previous month.

Harrison acknowledged that there was pressure on Biden to step aside. He mentioned on the show that the DNC’s handling of candidate selection resembled a “bunch of Baronies,” but Charlamagne countered, suggesting that wasn’t an accurate representation of the situation.

“Stop it, Jaime,” Charlamagne said. “It’s not Barony… you can tell the truth.” Harrison insisted he was being honest in his comments.

When asked what kind of power he had as DNC chair, Harrison cautioned against the notion that he could have told Biden not to run. Charlamagne pushed back, saying, “You may or should have.”

Harrison implied that Biden ignored advice to withdraw, while Charlamagne maintained that Biden’s eventual decision to drop out came too late, suggesting that “Everyone should have told him before.” He also argued that Biden recognized he was creating divisions within the party as a result of his age.

“Stop it, Jaime. You can’t see them anymore. That guy was too old,” argued Charlamagne. “Everyone knew he was too old. He should have been an interim president from the start.”

Harrison replied, pointing out that if voters believed Biden was too old, then people should have stepped up to challenge him in the race.

Charlamagne noted that former Democratic Minnesota Representative Dean Phillips did challenge Biden, but was effectively sidelined by the party. Harrison dismissed Phillips as not being a “serious” candidate, while Charlamagne felt that it wasn’t entirely relevant to the discussion.

Biden’s health has been a topic of contention among voters and Republicans since the 2020 campaign.

Harrison wasn’t alone in supporting Biden’s bid for reelection; many Democrats expressed enthusiasm, even chanting “Four more years!” during the former president’s State of the Union address in March 2024.
