Drunk Raccoon Rescued After Liquor Store Incident

A raccoon was rescued in Virginia after it reportedly broke into a liquor store on Black Friday, engaging in what authorities described as an “alcohol-fueled rampage.”

Hanover County Animal Rescue noted that police discovered the raccoon, named “Cole,” after they found a broken liquor bottle. It was later found unconscious on the bathroom floor of the Ashland store. Pictures released showed the little creature, somewhat comically, lying next to a trash bin and toilet.

Officials later mentioned that after a wild weekend, Cole might need a ride back home. They took the raccoon to a shelter to help it sober up. Fortunately, after a few hours of rest, with no apparent injuries—other than maybe a hangover—it was released back into the wild. Officials humorously hoped Cole learned that breaking and entering isn’t the way to go.

The shelter mentioned that there was no video footage of the incident since Cole crashed through the ceiling, effectively “taking away the camera.” A motive for this unusual break-in hasn’t been established. In a light-hearted exchange, police responded with a GIF showing TV personality Simon Cowell clapping in response to the shelter’s statement.

Cole remains unreachable for comments, making it clear that while this raccoon may have had quite the adventure, it has also managed to create a bit of mystery around its unexpected escapade.
