‘Race Between Biden and Trump Is No Longer Close’

Speaking on CNN on Friday, Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics, declared that the race for the White House between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump is “no longer a close race.”

Sabato rejected the idea that interviews and rallies could bridge the gap between the two, suggesting there was little Biden could do.

“i don’t think so [President Biden] “One interview can change the situation,” he said. “You would say stop the bleeding, but the bleeding has been bad. I mean, we’ve looked at all the data that’s coming in, all the polls — public and private — and the situation is bad. Democrats need to understand that the situation is not stable and it’s no longer close. The Biden-Trump race is no longer close.”

“Look at four polls, including this one from CNN last week, and they all agree, which is something you rarely see even in well-conducted polls, that Biden is actually two points behind Trump, and at least these polls agree that he’s six points ahead,” Sabato added. “That’s millions of voters. How do you get them to bounce back? A good interview, a good rally? A good story.”
