Left-wing political commentator Hasan Piker was suspended from the popular live video streaming service Twitch, Senator Rick Scott, R-Fla.

Piker's statement came during a stream in response to an interview with House Speaker Mike Johnson, who discussed measures to “cut out” waste, fraud and abuse among Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

During the stream, Piker argued that the scams mainly come from providers, not from government programs recipients.

“They aren't working on providers. They're not actually getting false claims. They're trying to cut down on recipients. [Fraud] It's not happening at the time of the recipient. If they care about Medicare or Medicaid scams, they'd kill Rick Scott,” he said.

The streamer said when Scott was CEO of a healthcare company following the investigation into “Medicare claims,” Columbia/HCA was fined more than $1.7 billion.

Twitch did not provide a specific reason for the suspension, but the timing of the violation and Piker's next X post suggest that the above comments are driving the platform to act.

This is Piker's fifth Twitch suspension.

Monday afternoon, Piker apologizedto her social media followers: “Sorry!”

“Next time, choose your words carefully and if Mike Johnson cares about ABT [sic] Medicare fraud (as he wants to cut 800m from Medicaid/Medicare) he was seeking the maximum penalty for current FL GOP Senator/former GOV Rick Scott.

Five minutes later, Piker spoke to his critics.

“To cry out and cry out about Day and immigrants and to the right-wing free speech lovers who took the time out of their day to cry [sic] this! ” he wrote to X.

Hasan and Twitch did not respond immediately to requests for comment.

Senator Ed Markey, D-Mass. , Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Dn.Y. And the other Democrats sat down with Picker, who was praised in December by former assistant campaign manager Rob Flaherty for Kamala Harris.

“We need an overall ecosystem,” Flaherty told Semer following Harris' election loss. “It's not just America, but I think we should have more of them. It's not just Hasan's Pikers. We should have more of them. It's also people who are cultural creators and people who influence nonpartisan audiences. They all need to happen together.”
