It’s time for concern—seriously. Melat Quiroz’s recent win in Colorado indicates that the anti-American, anti-Israel sentiment, and notions against capitalism have spread well beyond traditional strongholds.
Quiroz, who was born in Ethiopia, defended anti-Israel protests on campus, called out her anti-Semitic rivals, and claimed that events like 9/11 and the attacks on October 7 were “inevitable.” She managed to unseat Diana DeGette, a Democrat who held her seat for 15 terms.
Over in Michigan, the frontrunner for the vacant U.S. Senate seat is Abdul El-Sayed, who is aligning himself with controversial figure Hassan Piker. Piker has made outrageous statements, including claims that America “deserved” the 9/11 attacks.
In New York, Daria-Riza Avilés Chevalier advanced in her race, even though she leads an anti-Israel organization known for its provocative actions, including boasting about disrespecting the American flag while claiming to fight against “Western civilization.”
Chevalier, El-Sayed, Zoran Mamdani, and Quiroz are not anomalies. They are becoming the new face of the Democratic Party, which is quite alarming.
Members from the Democratic Socialists of America and similar left-leaning groups have been ousting incumbent Democrats whom they feel aren’t sufficiently radical.
What’s particularly troubling is that in this current political landscape, these young activists are gaining electoral traction, even for their anti-Semitic views.
Katrina Deville, a transgender DSA candidate in Wisconsin who has accused Israel of “genocide,” has even urged her volunteers to resort to violence against Republicans.
DSA candidates persistently echo anti-Israel and pro-Hamas rhetoric, making the situation in Gaza a focal point for division.
Rather than confronting these issues, mainstream Democratic leaders seem to be embracing this new wave. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has reached out to build bridges with these newcomers.
Additionally, Kamala Harris is reportedly connecting with Mamdani and other pro-Hamas figures in hopes of winning support for a potential 2028 presidential run.
Harris, who has a Jewish spouse, is trying to become more visible to young socialists and those holding anti-Semitic views.
This “rational” segment of the Democratic Party is taking significant risks. These radicals aim not only to challenge the economic system with their socialist ideals but also to incite anti-Semitism and weaken America’s standing.
What’s alarming is that they are also targeting something even more precious to Democrats—their own identity and existence.
