Fan at World Cup watch party in Southern California violently assaulted by robber

A 34-year-old woman reported being seriously injured during a robbery following a World Cup viewing party in Southern California last week. To add to her distress, she said that bystanders did not assist her.

Jennifer Silva shared her story with KTLA, explaining that the violent incident took place on June 18th near a Hooters restaurant in downtown Long Beach.

She described how the robbers approached her after she had been watching an important soccer game.

“The last thing I recall is someone yanking my bag and saying, ‘You’re going to need that,'” Silva recounted.

In their attempt to steal from her, the assailants severely beat her, resulting in a broken jaw, dislocated wrist, and fractured fingers.

Ultimately, they stole her belongings and escaped.

Silva also lost a tooth, along with suffering cuts and bruises during the ordeal. When the dust settled, she was shocked to find that none of the onlookers had bothered to check on her well-being.

“There was a crowd around me, but no one called 911,” she said, her voice tinged with disbelief. “No one helped me. I was assaulted, but I don’t know why.”

Eventually, police discovered her about half an hour later and transported her to a local hospital.

She started a GoFundMe to help cover her medical expenses, as she now requires reconstructive surgery for her jaw and several dental procedures.

“The road to recovery is long,” she expressed. “It’s already been a challenging journey of ‘I have to do this, I have to do that.’ I believe we’ll get through this, but it will take a lot of strength to keep pushing forward.”

Long Beach police are currently investigating the incident, but no suspects have been identified as of now, according to KTLA.
