A local North Carolina radio host is calling out the White House.
On Tuesday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre abruptly ended an interview with WBT radio host Mark Garrison in which she asked whether President Joe Biden suffers from dementia. Jean-Pierre called the question “incredibly offensive” and “incredibly insulting” and demanded that Garrison ask a different question.
When Garrison responded, the press secretary rushed through her answer before ending the interview.
Audio of the exchange ends with a dial tone purportedly coming from Jean-Pierre’s phone and a jolt from the radio host, who Jean-Pierre hangs up on.
“She hung up,” Garrison said.
In a statement Wednesday, the White House accused the radio station of fabricating a false controversy.

As presidents often do when they travel, Karine gave several consecutive interviews to the radio station, each lasting seven minutes. Once the agreed upon time was over, she started the next round of interviews to ensure everyone had full time. This particular station chose not to broadcast the full interview and instead added an artificial sound effect that would prevent a cell phone from ringing at the end of the call.
But Garrison says that’s not true.
“The White House’s claim that sound effects were added is nonsense. When she hung up, the noise on the phone was purely from the other end,” he said. Said.
Additionally, Garrison provided a copy of the live audio to the Daily Caller. The report said the audio included a dial tone, proving that the radio station did not insert the dial tone.
Garrison reaffirmed in an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Wednesday that the audio was not edited.
“We don’t add sound effects to news stories. When she pressed the hang up button, you heard a dial tone. We didn’t add any drama to it,” he said. . Said. “When I hung up on her, it was obvious she wasn’t happy.”
Meanwhile, Garrison told Ingraham that the unedited audio was a clip uploaded to the website (embedded above).
