Rand Paul slams Biden, McConnell for spending “borrowed” money on Ukraine aid

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) grills President Biden and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) over spending “borrowed” funds to Ukraine in an interview broadcast Sunday. did.

“The main reason I’m against sending money to Ukraine is because we don’t have the money,” Paul said in an interview with radio host John Catsimatidis on the “Cats Roundtable” radio show. “Money has to be borrowed. So basically, we owe China $1 trillion, and China bought $1 trillion worth of our debt. To Ukraine. In order to send money, you basically have to borrow money from China.”

Paul also said in the interview that McConnell and the Biden administration have told Ukrainians that “no matter what,” their country will eventually join NATO.

“Well, that’s really the only thing Ukraine can negotiate. If they negotiate that they’re neutral, that they don’t ally with Russia, that they don’t ally with the West, but that they’re willing to trade with both countries. If you want to,” Paul continued. “I think what they can do is negotiate a withdrawal of their troops. There’s no guarantee that the Russians will withdraw their troops, but it would be worth an offer.”

Biden last month signed a final $95 billion emergency foreign aid package that included aid to Ukraine and Israel, blaming “MAGA Republicans” for withholding aid to Ukraine.

“For my desk, it was a difficult road. It should have come easier, sooner. But in the end, we did what America always does. We are in this moment. We stood together and came together to get it done,” Biden said.

“For months, MAGA Republicans have been blocking aid,” the president continued. “While Ukraine is running low on shells and ammunition, President Putin’s friends continue to keep him well supplied.”
