Rangers beat Canucks to end three-game skid, keep playoff hopes alive

The Rangers' playoff hopes are still alive.

Despite a string of losses this month, the Blues Shirts rejoined the Eastern Conference wildcard race in January and February, giving Kanak the chance to fight with an empty 5-3 victory on Saturday afternoon, giving him plenty of fighting chance to return to the postseason painting cusp.

Even if the points were short against Montreal, the Rangers were eager to have a pickup victory, even if the Canadians and the Islanders (each with two games for the Rangers) were scheduled to play on Saturday night.

It was a dark week for the Rangers playoff odds, but they continued to compete by snapping three-game losing skids.

This was not the Rangers' most compelling performance, which concluded with less than 10 shots in each period for the second time in the last three games.

Their final few efforts were heavily questioned, but they base this on it and enter high notes on the road trip of the last three games.

And they did so on the night when Lenders' legendary voice, Sam Rosen, was celebrated with the iconic voice of 40 years at the broadcast booth at Madison Square Garden.

Jonny Brodzinski scored twice in the Rangers victory. This includes game winners as part of the goalscoring Palooza regarding the final 20 minutes of regulation.

The Rangers and Canucks traded a total of five goals before the Blues Shirt won with the final horn.

The Rangers were again flattened at the start, generating little offense in the opening 20 minutes as the Canucks took a 1-0 lead in the home team's zone.

It's not worse than getting outshot 11-1, going outshot 13-3 and coming out on the wrong end of Heidanger's 8-1 advantage on a chance.

JT Miller faced a former team for six years for the first time since being traded back to New York at the end of January, establishing Brozinski for the Rangers' first go-ahead goal.

After helping Puck enter the Canucks zone, Miller spotted Brozinski alone at the crease entrance in Vancouver for the eighth goal of the 31-year-old season.

The goal was just 1:39 in the third term, but the Rangers were unable to succumb to the fullest.

Brock Boser later shook the mirror behind the Rangers' net and scored to get to 3-3 game.
