Rangers' defense falters in closing moments in defeat to Stars

DALLAS – Rangers Hold Stars Scoreless for Most of the Game

The Dallas Stars managed to keep the NHL’s third-best team scoreless for almost 53 minutes during their recent match against the New York Rangers.

Throughout the game, neither team found their offensive rhythm, but Jason Robertson shone during a power play. Ultimately, the Stars secured a 2-0 victory, sealing the game with an empty-net goal.

A holding penalty against Matthew Robertson gave the Stars their fourth power play opportunity of the night.

In a moment of frustration, Mr. Robertson remarked that former Ranger Colin Blackwell was holding his stick. He quickly capitalized on a rebound, scoring with a backhand shot past Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin with just over seven minutes left in the game, marking his 43rd goal of the season.

The Rangers were eager for a win, but it was the Stars who excelled in the special teams department, earning themselves two points from the game.

“I think we’re telling our players to stay focused on the present, and honestly, we should be doing the same,” commented head coach Mike Sullivan when asked about the possibility of planning for next season during what may be his final match. “We’re committed to playing our best on the ice, tackling the challenges we face with every experience that comes our way.”

“It’s part of the journey, and sure, there’ll be a time to look ahead, but that time isn’t now.”

There was little room to maneuver on the ice at American Airlines Center that night. The Rangers limited the Stars to just three shots in the first period and six in the second, keeping the visitors at bay.

The game felt more physical than anything. Captains JT Miller and Jamie Benn had a significant skirmish after a hard hit on Vladislav Gavrikov during the second period.
