Rangers disappoint again at MSG in a rough defeat to the Canucks

Rangers Struggling at Home This Season

This season, it seems there’s no real home advantage for the Rangers at Madison Square Garden. If you look at their six shutout losses—most recently a 3-0 defeat to the Canucks—it paints a pretty bleak picture of how poorly the team has performed in this iconic venue. The atmosphere was palpable, with murmurs in the Lower Bowl giving way to raucous boos on Tuesday night.

As the season approaches the halfway mark, the Blueshirts have managed to secure only four wins at home. It’s frankly disappointing and feels like a slap in the face to fans who shell out quite a bit for those tickets.

This ongoing struggle seems to be a recurring theme throughout the 35 games they’ve played so far. Take Conor Sheary, for example; he’s spent much of the season in a top-six role but has netted just one goal in 32 games. Then there’s Alexis Lafreniere and Vincent Trocheck, who have only one goal between them in their last nine and ten games, respectively.

It’s almost as if all the scoring pressure has fallen on star players like Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, and JT Miller. Tuesday night’s loss marked their third defeat this season to the team sitting at the bottom of the league.

The bleak stats don’t end there; the Rangers now have a total of seven shutout losses, which leads the NHL. It’s hard to shake the feeling that discussions about creating offensive opportunities are sounding increasingly empty.

Looking ahead, with 23 home games left, that shutout number might just climb higher if the Rangers can’t rally and start defending their territory at center ice.
