Ransom notes related to the Tucson kidnapping case sent to news organizations by Nancy Guthrie

Two media outlets have received a possible ransom note related to the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie. This note allegedly contains “classified information” that might only be known to the person who took her.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her Tucson home on Saturday around 9:30 p.m., according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

While the authorities initially kept details about her disappearance vague, Sheriff Chris Nanos stated on Monday, “The fact is, we do.” It appears there may have been a crime. Sources within police departments have reported seeing “drops of blood” leading from the front door, down the hallway, and toward the driveway of her residence.

Officials from the Pima County Sheriff’s Office indicated that they suspect Nancy Guthrie was either kidnapped or abducted.

After a press briefing by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, TMZ and a local CBS affiliate reported claims of a ransom note connected to Nancy’s case. The Sheriff’s office acknowledged the note’s potential existence and is actively investigating it.

According to TMZ, the ransom demand includes sending millions of dollars in cryptocurrency to a specified Bitcoin address. The note allegedly comes with a deadline and contains threats, referred to as an “or else” element.

Notably, there was confusion regarding Nancy’s clothing in the initial reports. TMZ initially stated she was wearing a particular item, only later to correct that information, claiming she wasn’t.

The note reported to the Sheriff’s Department also listed items in Nancy’s home that appeared to have been damaged. KOLD, the local CBS station, noted it received an email resembling a ransom note and promptly forwarded it to authorities.

KOLD anchor Mary Coleman mentioned in an interview that the details contained within the potential ransom note suggested that it might not be a hoax, noting that some classified information could only be known to those present during her abduction.

In a video shared on Instagram, Savannah Guthrie and her siblings urged anyone with information related to their mother’s whereabouts to step forward. “Our mother is a kind, loyal, faithful, fiercely loving woman,” she described, adding that she is deeply loved by her grandchildren who enjoy spending time with her.

Savannah continued, “Her health is fragile, and she needs her medication. We’re hearing about ransom letters, and as a family, we’re trying everything we can.” She emphasized the urgency of confirming Nancy’s safety, expressing a desire to communicate with whoever may have her.
