Lil Wayne Speaks on White House Ballroom and Trump
Rap star Lil Wayne recently expressed his support for President Donald Trump’s decision to create a ballroom at the White House, arguing that an indoor venue is necessary. He pointed out that holding important events outdoors isn’t ideal, saying, “I mean, we can’t be doing everything on the damn lawn.”
On a recent episode of the podcast friends keep secrets, Lil Wayne mentioned how pleased he was to hear Trump address the backlash regarding the ballroom. “When I heard that, I thought, ‘Isn’t that just like Trump?’ But honestly, it made me happy to hear him say it.”
The rapper also shared a memorable experience from performing at an event for Vice President Kamala Harris, celebrating hip-hop’s 50th anniversary. He described the event, which took place at the Vice President’s official residence, as feeling more like a “backyard barbecue.” He even joked about not having access to the inside. “I was surprised I was back here. What?! Can’t I come in?” he recalled. “It felt kind of informal, like, can we just call it a barbecue instead?”
Lamenting the limitations of outdoor events, he stated, “Everything important seems to happen outside.”
Previously, during the 2020 election, Lil Wayne endorsed Trump, noting that their discussion focused on criminal justice reform and investments in Black communities. “I had a productive meeting with @realdonaldtrump. The Platinum Plan promises real ownership for the community,” he conveyed back then, alongside a photo with the president.
He added, “He seriously listened to us today and seemed committed to making changes.”
Trump has indicated that the ballroom will be a venue for state dinners, performances, and other significant events at the White House. This new addition comes after a recent incident at this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which raised security concerns.
