Rapper Rod Wave surrenders to authorities with over a dozen charges against him.

The rapper known as Rod Wave is currently facing over a dozen charges, including one related to a firearm, after a confrontation with a sheriff’s deputy in Georgia on Tuesday.

In a statement to the Associated Press, the rapper’s attorneys assert, “There’s no truth to these accusations.” They went on to say, “Rod Green was a victim of a robbery and did not commit any crimes.” They expressed confusion over how he ended up being charged and indicated they believe the situation will resolve positively for him.

On that day in April, police were called to a townhouse in northern Atlanta, responding to what was described in the 911 report as “a possible domestic obstruction.” Officers noted hearing screams and witnessed a woman in distress.

Upon arrival, officers linked the call to an unreported robbery and a firearm discharge at the residence and later obtained a warrant for Green, who resided there.

His charges encompass aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit a felony, criminal damage to property, and pointing a gun at someone, according to records from the Fulton County Jail. Additionally, he faces accusations of tampering with evidence and obstructing law enforcement.

The police report specifies that when officers arrived at the home on April 21, they found a gold Mercedes SUV with multiple bullet holes and a black Rolls-Royce with a single bullet hole.

In the basement, they discovered a large safe that had been dragged across the floor, opened, and empty. Green’s girlfriend later returned home to find the house apparently ransacked. Officers noted a hammer near a broken window and a black Glock handgun at the scene.

Interestingly, the initial report does not name any suspects for the break-in or the vehicle damage, and it does not incriminate Green himself.

Authorities have mentioned that Green was released on bond shortly after turning himself in earlier this week.

At 26, this Florida native has gained recognition for his distinctive soul trap sound—a blend of R&B and rap—and has earned 11 platinum-certified singles from the American Recording Industry Association. Four of his six albums have reached number one on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, including his latest release, “Last Rap,” earlier this year.

This year, he surpassed a record held by Ryan Cooler’s track “Sinner,” contributing to a significant hit of the same title.

Green was raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, and has faced legal troubles in the past, including a rejected domestic battery charge in 2022.

In that earlier case, his ex-girlfriend alleged he entered her home in Orlando and suffocated her while their children were in different rooms. They had been together for about four years, and the woman’s statements suggested he accused Green of infidelity when they separated.

However, prosecutors later determined that this case was not appropriate for prosecution.
