Ravens’ Dre’Mont Jones makes an odd comment about the NFL following a $14K fine in a viral post

The Ravens’ newly signed linebacker received a $14,055 penalty for making what the NFL described as a “violent gesture”—a throat-slitting hand signal—after a sack in the fourth quarter during their Week 12 victory over the New York Jets.

He also faced criticism on social media during Saturday’s league game, where he seemed to make a flippant comment regarding his family.

“I just said ‘I’m done’ in a competitive way, but my kids won’t be getting any Christmas presents this year #ThankYouNFL,” he shared on X.

Heading into the 2025 season, Jones has signed a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans worth $8.5 million, which includes a $6 million signing bonus and $7.99 million guaranteed.

His comment appeared to be a sarcastic dig at what he thought was an unwarranted fine.

Jones, originally from Ohio State, was released by the Seattle Seahawks before the 2025 season, picked up by the Titans, and later traded to the Ravens just ahead of the NFL trade deadline. He has quickly bolstered Baltimore’s pass rush, showcasing his best performance against New York with four tackles and 1.5 sacks in that win.

The Ravens, currently 6-6, had a five-game winning streak before their loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thanksgiving. They are set to host the Pittsburgh Steelers on December 7, aiming for Jones to finally make it to the postseason in his seventh year with the NFL.
