Ravens face significant fine for Lamar Jackson's injury label

NFL Fines Ravens for Injury Reporting Violation

The NFL imposed a significant fine on the Baltimore Ravens last Friday for incorrectly detailing quarterback Lamar Jackson’s participation in practice.

The Ravens received a $100,000 penalty for contravening the league’s injury reporting rules. According to reports, the league views this as a case of negligence rather than an intentional attempt to manipulate the situation for competitive gain. If it had been deemed deliberate, the consequences could have included losing draft picks.

The Ravens acknowledged their mistake, stating that it’s vital to operate with integrity and adhere to NFL guidelines consistently. They expressed that they had erred in injury reporting and had cooperated with the league’s investigation. The team decided not to contest the ruling and is now focused on their upcoming game against the Vikings.

Jackson’s practice status has been a bit chaotic; he was categorized as a limited participant on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, only to be listed as fully participating on Friday despite his role on the scout team.

Later, Jackson was downgraded again and ended up missing a game against the Chicago Bears. Tyler “Snoop” Huntley stepped in for him and guided the Ravens to a 30-16 victory. Jackson did, however, make his return to play in a 28-6 win over the Miami Dolphins just a few days later.

With two wins in just five days, the Ravens improved their record to 3-5 after a rough start, putting them in a competitive spot within the AFC North. Their next matchup is scheduled for November 9 against the Vikings, who have a 3-4 record.
