Baltimore police say the suspect in a viral video showing a Ravens fan brutally punching two rival fans is… turned himself in After an online campaign to bring him to justice.
The video showed a man wearing a Ravens jersey marching toward two men wearing Washington Commanders jerseys and assaulting them in what appeared to be an unprovoked attack.
“The indictment states that Karis was seen on surveillance video assaulting one of the men prior to the incident in the viral video.”
Social media users were outraged by the video and rushed to identify the man so he could be brought to justice. Some claimed to have identified their workplaces and pressured them until the insurance company announced that the suspects had been fired.
And on Friday, Baltimore police announced they had issued a warrant for 24-year-old John Callis.
Kalis turned himself in to the Baltimore Police Department's South Precinct station on Monday after reaching an agreement with police, his attorney said.
Charis was seen on surveillance camera assaulting one of the men before the incident in the viral video, charging documents say. The suspect allegedly punched one man, coaxed the other man to protect the victim, and was then assaulted himself. In addition to the woman, a third man wearing a commander's jersey also intervened in the fight, police said. After the separation, the woman stayed with Charis while the three victims fled.
The men who were assaulted told police they returned to the area to look for their lost cell phones when Callis attacked them again.
Police said one of the men suffered a concussion and several bruises, but the other two escaped with minor injuries.
