Oscar-winning actor, conservative firebrand, and biopic star Reagan Jon Voight says President Ronald Reagan's faith gave him the strength to defeat communism, which now threatens America again.
Voight said The Christian Post argues that Reagan's approach to Communism was rooted in an unshakeable faith instilled in him at an early age by his mother, Nell, and his childhood pastor.
“What he had was basically what his mother told him as a child: Stay connected to God and believe in the founding principles of our country. That has guided him throughout his life and allowed him to discern right from wrong.” Ray Donovan Starr said.
The veteran actor will play former KGB agent Viktor Petrovich in the 2024 film. ReaganHe also warned that the terrifying ideology of Communism was now infiltrating the United States.
“The Russian people suffered from that, and now we are being attacked by the same values,” Voight said. “Ronald Reagan helped them survive. He kicked out the Soviet Union, he kicked out Communism from the country. What a blessing for them.”
“They had been so badly brought down and so badly hurt by the system, and he gave them hope and a new life.” Midnight Cowboy Starr continued, “But now we're being hit with it, with a KGB plot.”
“It's ingrained in our country and we have to stand up and get back to the right principles. Maybe that's what Ronald Reagan is reminding us of,” he added.
Elsewhere in the interview, Voight said, “I was raised Catholic, but then I went away for a bit and made some terrible mistakes of my own, and I had a wake-up call, and I learned that God is real and that all of our lives only have meaning in relationship to Him.”
“I've been very fortunate in my life to have that understanding, and it's allowed me to have a long career.” Anaconda A star was added.
“As Christians, we have great guidance from Jesus and help from above. It's all true and it gives us hope to become our greater selves,” Voight said. “Our souls are parts of God and each of our souls is pure God. When we turn to that and recognize ourselves as that, our lives change.”
