When I got the American Express Platinum Card® last year, I was really drawn to its lounge access and impressive welcome bonus. But honestly, I didn’t even give the $12.95 monthly Walmart+ credit much thought.
I had previously called Walmart+ pointless since I didn’t shop there often. However, after a few months of having the Platinum card, I took a deeper dive into the benefits. With rising grocery prices, Walmart became a more appealing option for me. Now, I see the value of those statement credits.
Surprisingly, Walmart+ offers free shipping with no minimum order requirements, which was a pleasant shock. Some perks of the program don’t even relate directly to Walmart itself. That statement credit has really helped me justify the card’s annual fee of $895.

What is Amex Platinum Walmart+ Credit?
It seems like every retailer has some kind of membership these days. Walmart+ is essentially a paid program that provides members several benefits to save money at Walmart and its affiliates.
The monthly membership costs $12.95 (not including tax), and Amex Platinum provides a monthly statement credit to cover that cost, totaling $155 a year (automatic renewal applies, but excludes Plus Ups). Of course, you’ll need to sign up to receive this statement credit before getting the membership.
Free Delivery and Shipping with Walmart+
Since Walmart has become my go-to for groceries, I’ve started to appreciate the perks that come with Walmart+. There’s no extra fee if your grocery order is over $35, which is easy to reach these days with prices going up. I typically try to buy just what I need, but saving money has become crucial lately.
I really prefer not to do my grocery shopping in-store, so having it delivered at no extra cost is a real plus. TPG’s Augusta Stone also underscores how much she values the free same-day delivery for essentials like shampoo and cleaning supplies.

Without Walmart+, the added shipping and handling fees can really cut into your savings from shopping there. If you haven’t considered Walmart for groceries before, it might be worthwhile—you could save more than you think.
Free Peacock Premium or Paramount+
Streaming services can get pricey, sometimes costing about 10 cents a minute. If you’re after a specific movie or show, you often have to sift through different platforms, which can be a hassle.
Back when I ignored Walmart+, I missed out on some significant savings on streaming costs. Walmart+ members now get a free Paramount+ Essential or Peacock Premium subscription. Paramount+ Essential normally goes for about $7.99 a month, while Peacock Premium is around $10.99—you should note both come with ads.
As a college football enthusiast, I love following the Oregon Ducks, so having that free Paramount+ subscription is a great way to enjoy games. Once the season wraps up, I can switch over to Peacock and catch my favorite shows, which is a nice feature since you can alternate between the two services every 90 days.

Honestly, I’ve been leaning more towards Taco Bell lately when hunger strikes for fast food. Still, I believe Burger King tends to get a bit too much criticism, so I’m a fan of the Walmart+ Burger King benefit.
Whenever you’re craving Burger King, Walmart+ members enjoy 25% off digital orders. I rarely eat there, but knowing I can save on any day is comforting to me.
Additionally, Walmart+ members receive a free Whopper every three months. This offer is redeemable for both in-store and online purchases, and visiting the store can save you some extra cash since there’s no shipping fee.
If you enjoy takeout or find yourself rushing to make dinner, having a Walmart+ membership can help you spend less compared to not having one.
