Reba McIntyre Shares Life Lessons and Engagement News

Reba McIntyre has opened up about one of the toughest lessons she’s had to learn throughout her life. Now at 70, she emphasizes the importance of not getting caught up in worrying about both trivial and significant matters.

According to McIntyre, the hardest thing to understand is “to stop living for tomorrow or clinging to yesterday.” This realization, while challenging, becomes rewarding when applied. She reflects on her previous mindset, thinking that complacency could hinder personal growth. “I thought that if you became complacent, you wouldn’t strive for more,” she admitted. “But that’s not entirely true, because striving for improvement in your health is always a goal. I often tell those on ‘The Voice’ and anyone seeking advice, ‘Enjoy every moment.’”

Career and Future Plans

Even after five decades in the industry, McIntyre doesn’t currently have a retirement plan. She expressed uncertainty about when that might happen, saying, “It could be 20 years from now.” She reminisced about a conversation with Dolly Parton, who, when asked about retirement, responded, “Why would I?” McIntyre agrees wholeheartedly, noting, “Although I might slow down, I have no intention of fully retiring.”

“I cherish this part of my life,” she added, with genuine enthusiasm.

Engagement to Rex Lynn

This exciting chapter includes her engagement to Rex Lynn, announced during the 2025 Emmy Awards. The couple, who also starred together on McIntyre’s show, “The Happy Place,” found joy in working alongside each other. McIntyre described their experiences: “Driving to work together, rehearsing, talking about it all—it’s really special for me. That’s something new.”

Their connection goes back to their appearance together in 1991, followed by a reunion in 2020. McIntyre shared her feelings for Lynn, stating, “I’ve never been loved by a man like Rex. He has a wonderful heart, and I love him deeply.”
