Rebag Partners with Amazon to Expand Luxury Resale Offerings

Rebag, a fast-emerging name in the luxury resale market, recently revealed its partnership with Amazon. As of June 10th, nearly 30,000 verified second-hand luxury items—think Cartier, Chanel, and Hermes—are now available on the platform.

Rebag is getting involved with initiatives like Mygemma. An exclusive vintage storefront called AnoverAvering is already on Amazon, further broadening its second-hand fashion presence.

While Rebag is still smaller than major players like The Real Real—or Vestiaire Collective, which has a valuation around $1.2 billion—it aims to carve out its niche using technology in this competitive luxury resale environment.

This collaboration with Amazon allows Rebag to operate on a direct purchasing model, scaling up quickly without the burden of expensive physical stores or narrow-margin mass resale. It seems to be a perfect fit for capitalizing on Amazon’s vast reach and quick delivery options.

With this strategic move, Rebag can more aggressively compete, making it easy for customers to discover unusual luxury finds. For instance, a Birkin bag can be snagged for as little as $12,670 on Rebag, a significant discount compared to the usual prices that start above $30,000 and can go up to $200,000 for pre-owned versions.

This launch follows Amazon’s earlier luxury collaboration with Saks, which brought exclusive runway collections from brands like Balmain and Dolce & Gabbana. While Saks introduces new luxury seasons, Rebag focuses on past collections, making Amazon a comprehensive destination for luxury shoppers.

Interestingly, the second-hand market is expected to grow at 2.7 times the rate of the global apparel market. Thredup’s 2024 Resale Report suggests global resale demand could hit $367 billion by 2029, with Rebag positioned as a key player in shaping the future of fashion on Amazon.

Founded in 2014 by Charles Gorra—a Harvard Business School graduate with experience in finance and fashion—Rebag has built consumer trust and brand loyalty through its innovative insights. Gorra noted, “The partnership with Amazon will create greater access to luxury resale for customers across the US,” emphasizing the aim to broaden awareness and enhance the shopping experience.

This partnership allows Amazon shoppers to receive authenticated luxury goods in just two days. Interested buyers can search for specific items and have them delivered right to their doorstep, which is quite appealing.

Despite having physical stores, primarily in Bloomingdale, New York, and Florida, this deal propels Rebag to a new level of accessibility for customers seeking rare luxury items quickly.

Given the current economic climate and rising inflation, Rebag’s entry onto Amazon couldn’t be better timed for those shopping for luxury goods at more competitive prices.

With Amazon now presenting luxury options on its platform, prospective shoppers might wonder: do they really need to look elsewhere for these kinds of purchases?
