Emotional Father’s Day for Rebecca Gayheart
Rebecca Gayheart, widow of Eric Dane, shared a heartfelt post on her Instagram Stories for her first Father’s Day since his passing. She expressed how much her heart ached for their two daughters. The post featured a picture of Eric with Billie, 16, and Georgia, 14.
“This is a ‘first’ for many things,” she mentioned, reflecting on the painful new experiences for their family. “I know Eric takes care of them every day. ❤️🩹”
Meanwhile, Billie also honored her late father on social media by sharing a nostalgic photo from his younger days. She wrote, “Dad, dad, dad, there’s never been a date where I don’t miss you. I love you more than words can express.”
Eric Dane passed away on February 19, just shy of a year after he announced his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He was 53 years old and reportedly died from respiratory failure, with ALS being the underlying cause, as noted in a death certificate obtained by a magazine.
Dane and Gayheart were married unexpectedly in Las Vegas back in 2004, and they welcomed their daughters in 2010 and 2011. Although Gayheart filed for divorce in February 2018 after 14 years of marriage, she withdrew the filing last November, citing health issues surrounding Dane.
Following his death, Gayheart expressed her gratitude to those who supported her and her children during this challenging period. Just four months after Dane’s passing, their youngest daughter Georgia graduated from middle school.
In a proud moment shared on Instagram, Gayheart congratulated Georgia on her accomplishment, emphasizing her resilience during a tough year. “Welcome to high school. I’m sure you’re ready. I’m so excited,” she wrote, adding a personal touch about an MVP trophy Georgia received in beach volleyball.
