Recently ousted Dem senator said he’s ‘getting the f— out of here’ when asked about presidential pardon

Sen. Jon Tester has been ousted from his long-held seat in the Montana Senate and is being grilled by reporters with just a few weeks left in Congress.

President Biden on Sunday pardoned his son Hunter Biden, exonerating him from charges of crimes he “committed or may have committed” between January 2014 and December 2024.

Tester was asked Monday about Biden's controversial move to pardon his son, to which the senator gave a fairly candid response.

According to CNN and other sources, he said with a smile, “We have a month to get that person out of here.'' “Ask the person who counts.”

The comments come nearly a month after the three-term Montana Democrat was ousted by Republican Navy SEAL Sen.-elect Tim Sheehy in one of the most closely watched races of the 2024 cycle. .

Mr. Tester did not respond to questions, but Democrats on Capitol Hill have voiced opposition for the past decade to Mr. Biden's decision to exempt his son from possible federal charges.

“President Biden's decision to pardon his son was wrong. The president's family and allies should not receive special treatment. This is an inappropriate use of power, undermines trust in government, and threatens others. ” Sen. Gary Peters, D-Mich., wrote in a post about X.

Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) also said Biden's decision “further undermines the American people's trust that our justice system is fair and equal for all.”

Attempts to reach Tester's office for comment were unsuccessful at press time.
