‘Reckless’ Trevor Bauer in talks with MLB teams after sexual assault accusations

Pitcher Trevor Bauer remains a free agent months after resolving a high-profile legal dispute with a woman he accused of assaulting and sexually assaulting him in 2021, so Major League Baseball has announced that he will I hope you will give me a second chance.

Bauer appeared on FOX News Channel's “America's Newsroom” on Thursday and said his agent has talked with a number of different teams, but no contract or invitation to spring training has yet materialized. He talked about the “mistakes” he has made in his life and what he is doing to correct them.

“I know I made a mistake. That's kind of what I'm going to focus on,” he told anchor Bill Hemmer. “How can I be better from my past experiences? I've made mistakes in my personal life. I'm very detail-oriented when it comes to baseball and training, but I don't put the same level of scrutiny into my personal life. It wasn't.

“I made a mistake. I agreed to do something I shouldn't have done. I was reckless. I hurt a lot of people in the process. I made a mistake in Major League Baseball, the Dodgers, the team. I have made things very difficult for my mates, friends, family and people close to me. So I have done a lot of self-reflection about it and have made many changes in my life to deal with it. For example, I no longer have casual sexual relationships.”

Bauer said the way things had been done so far was wrong, pointing to communications with reporters and on social media.

“I also angered many members of the media,” he said. “When people wrote things about me that I didn't agree with, I was very immature in how I handled things. I should have had a private, adult conversation with someone. I was often bullied as a child. I don't want to get into that too much, but at the time I thought a lot of my reactions on social media were defending myself and having a voice. I think he was just immature.

“Certainly, I've grown a lot. My perspective now is very different than it was five years ago, 10 years ago. Different things are important to me.”
