When parking within ball striking distance of a baseball facility, you generally expect that your property may be damaged by a hard hit. But the odds were stacked against Cincinnati Reds pitcher Hunter Greene as a foul ball landed in the window of a luxury car on Tuesday.
Green’s Maybach was pitching to young star Ellie Delacruz during live batting practice in the parking lot of the Reds’ spring training facility.
When Dela Cruz hit a foul ball into the parking lot, he hit the switch from the left side of the plate. The ball landed on the back driver’s side of the green luxury SUV, breaking the window.

The starting price for a Mercedes-Maybach GLS SUV is typically around $200,000. Prices may increase depending on trim and options.
Angels’ Mike Trout: “I think the easy solution is to ask for a trade.”
It’s still unclear who will ultimately pay for the window repairs, but Green’s salary is significantly higher than Delacruz’s. The 24-year-old pitcher has signed a six-year, $53 million contract with the Reds. Dela Cruz, on the other hand, earned an estimated $720,000 during his rookie campaign.
If Delacruz can have a great first season, he could be in line for a lucrative long-term contract in the near future.
Green appeared to be calm about the unfortunate turn of events as he posed for a photo with Dela Cruz next to the damaged vehicle.
Dela Cruz appeared in 98 games during his rookie season and finished the year with 13 home runs and 44 RBIs.
