‘Refugees’ Are Just Economic Migrants

Public opinion polls in 52 countries show that overwhelming majorities of people say the majority of “refugees” are not helpless victims of war or disaster, but simply economic migrants seeking work and aid.

The polling company IPSOS 33,000 people from 52 countries Do you agree or disagree with the statement, “Most foreigners who want to enter my country as refugees are not actually refugees. They just want to come here for economic reasons or to receive welfare services.”

58% of Americans Agreed The poll found that only 34% agreed with the statement “they are not refugees,” while only 34% disagreed. United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees To rebuild public support for further migration.

In the UK, 62 percent were in favor and 29 percent were against. In Germany, 61 percent were in favor and 33 percent were against. In Ireland, 63 percent were in favor and 32 percent were against.

Globally, 61 percent are in favor of increased immigration and 31 percent are against, despite relentless media encouragement for increased immigration.

This undesirable outcome was the result of surveys skewing public opinion polls in favour of immigrants by, for example, concealing the current level of immigration, presenting respondents with extremes of welcome or rejection, and concealing policy choices.

Those options include investment in American productivity and mutually beneficial trade.

Despite this bias, the IPSOS survey finds that most people around the world sympathize with Americans’ growing opposition to immigration: “Year-on-year tracking surveys in some countries reveal a decline in support in many countries, suggesting that while the principle of asylum still enjoys majority support, this sentiment is weakening over time.”

In the United States, a Gallup poll on June 12th found Indicated Fifty-five percent of Americans want to reduce immigration, while only 16 percent want to increase it.

Still, the IPSOS survey highlighted favorable results for the UN’s expansion of migration plans: “There is varying degrees of openness to granting refugees rights and access to resources,” IPSOS wrote.

In the United States, a Democratic-led coalition of business and progressive groups has argued that Biden’s immigration is beneficial and that crime and chaos are moving him towards being more welcoming at the U.S.-Mexico border.

This business-progressive coalition is powerful in large part because it exploits Americans’ decent sympathy for poor foreigners to quietly and gradually turn a trickle of immigrants at the border into a flood of guest workers, consumers and renters.

This strategy is supported by many Americans who want to demonstrate left-wing support for immigration. For example, an IPSOS poll found that 26 percent of Americans agree with Biden’s assertion that a person is a “refugee” even if they were simply “seeking better economic opportunities abroad” or sneaking across the U.S. border.

But the IPSOS survey found that majorities in Western countries are increasingly wary of exceptions and loopholes that allow mass immigration. For example, the poll found that 48% of Americans and 44% of Britons agreed that “our borders should be completely closed to refugees. We can’t take them in at the moment.”

This unexceptionably strong judgment was shared by 50 percent of Germans, 42 percent of Canadians, 53 percent of Irish people, and 49 percent of Dutch people.

The poll also found that 44% of Americans say immigrants put a strain on schools, hospitals and housing, while 22% say they have a positive impact.

But the results for citizens of countries that send immigrants to Europe and the United States are much closer.

In Ethiopia, 57 percent are against and 31 percent are against, while in Kenya, 46 percent are in favor and 51 percent are against. Both countries send large numbers of people to wealthier countries, but at the same time they try to keep out immigrants from their poorer neighbors.
