Could LeBron James Return to the Cavaliers?

Reggie Miller thinks it could happen.

On “The Dan Patrick Show” recently, he shared his thoughts on the possibility of LeBron rejoining the Cavaliers in the near future. It’s an intriguing idea, right? With Cleveland’s current lineup boasting some impressive young talent, Miller believes this might tempt James back to Ohio to pursue one last championship.

He mentioned, “I can’t see him leaving the Lakers unless his old team, the Cavaliers, makes a move and says, ‘Hey, we’ve got all this talent, but we need a player who can unify the locker room and guide the guys to play effectively.’” That perspective really makes you think about how critical leadership is in a team, doesn’t it?

Miller posed the question, “Could we see LeBron back in Cleveland with Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley?” It’s a bit uncertain but not quite out of the realm of possibility. He added, “Maybe, I don’t know, but they would certainly be a strong team to attempt another championship run.”

Looking ahead, James is set to become a free agent after the 2025-26 season. There’s a sense that retirement might soon be on his mind, especially with the NBA newly honoring his remarkable 23 seasons in the league with a special jersey patch.

Nonetheless, Miller seems to believe that James is driven by the desire for one more championship opportunity. He remarked, “I think he desires that. Is this Lakers team designed for it? That’s something we’ll have to see. Defensively, they are still struggling, and in the competitive landscape of the Western Conference, it could be tough.”

LeBron’s journey began in Cleveland back in 2003. After a stint in Miami starting in 2010, he returned to the Cavs in 2014 for another four seasons. In 2018, he took his talents to Los Angeles. It’s quite the trajectory, really—where will it lead him next?
