Reed Perry Announces Departure from The Band Perry
Reed Perry has made the decision to retire from The Band Perry, leaving his sister, Kimberly, as the only original member of the country music group after two decades.
In an Instagram post on October 13, the 36-year-old expressed his gratitude to fans, saying, “Dear fans, you have always been my favorite part of this series. I have decided to leave TBP.”
He emphasized his passion for creating country music, remarking, “For me, it’s always been about making great country music with and for the hard-working people who love it and live it.” He concluded his message with well wishes for Kimberly and the band as they move forward.
Reed also shared that he’s shifting his focus to artist management, particularly with Ryan Coleman, a contestant from The Voice. “While I will miss seeing you in the audience at Band Perry shows, I will be by your side managing a new voice that I believe in more than anything: Ryan Coleman,” he stated.
Kimberly, 42, publicly supported her brother’s departure, wishing him success in his new endeavors. “Reid! We wish you great success in your new era!” she commented, adding an affectionate note, “I love you, brother!”
Fans quickly filled the comments section with gratitude, reminiscing about the music Reed contributed over the years. One fan shared, “I’m crying but I have to do it!” expressing a mix of sadness and support, while another said, “Thank you for all the unforgettable memories over the years.” Many echoed similar sentiments, wishing him well on his new journey.
The Band Perry, formed by Reed, Kimberly, and their brother Neil in 2005, gained fame with their hit “If I Die Young,” which became a staple of their career. The group won accolades, including a Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance in 2015 for “Gentle on My Mind.” In early 2023, they announced a hiatus to explore solo projects, with Kimberly focusing on her solo EP, Bloom.
Earlier this year, they expressed their excitement in returning to their roots with Big Machine Label Group, stating, “Returning to our Big Machine/Nashville Harbor family feels like a beautiful full-circle moment for us.” Kimberly remarked that this reunion represents a significant new chapter in their artistic journey.
