Remains found at bottom of AL lake confirmed to be man missing since 2013

A body recovered from a truck at a lake in eastern Alabama has been confirmed to be that of a 74-year-old man who disappeared more than a decade ago.

As reported by Oscar Lewis King, Cherokee County Coroner Paul McDonald, along with the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, positively identified the body pulled from Weiss Lake on Friday, al.com reported.

“It appears that Dr. King accidentally drove his car into the water from the boat ramp at Chestnut Bay Resort near Leesburg,” Sheriff Jeff Shaver said Tuesday.

Authorities said no foul play was suspected in King’s death.

Human remains found in a sunken truck in Weiss Lake near Leesburg, Alabama, have been confirmed to be those of Oscar Lewis King, who went missing more than a decade ago.

“I’m grateful that the case was solved and the family was able to find out what happened,” Shaver said.

Her body was discovered on February 23rd inside a Dodge Dakota truck owned by King, who was living in the center at the time of her disappearance.

As law enforcement officers began searching for the truck, a fisherman reported seeing what they believed to be a vehicle in the lake. Dr. King’s body was found inside the car. He was reported missing on December 2, 2013.
