Minneapolis Shooting Incidents Spark Controversy
MINNEAPOLIS – Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem has described the shooting of a woman in Minneapolis by federal agents as “domestic terrorism.” She claims the driver, Renee Good, had been “stalking, obstructing, and deterring” ICE agents prior to the incident.
In a video from the scene, Good’s wife, Rebecca Brown Good, appears visibly distressed and mentioned that she had encouraged Renee to approach an area where ICE was active. She can be heard saying, “I let her get down here. It’s my fault.”
Noem and former President Donald Trump characterized Good as a “professional agitator” with intentions to harm law enforcement, a portrayal contested by her family. Donna Ganger, Good’s mother, argued that her daughter had “never participated in anything like that,” depicting her as non-confrontational and kind-hearted.
The incident unfolded after Renee drove her vehicle toward investigators, which the Department of Homeland Security identified as an act of “self-defense.” Footage online shows ICE agents trying to open the driver’s door of her SUV before it moved forward, prompting an officer positioned in front to fire multiple shots.
Democratic leaders have challenged Noem’s characterization of the event, calling for an investigation into the actions of the involved officers. St. Louis city officials confirmed that the vehicle Good was driving had license plates registered to two Missouri residents.
Some former neighbors mentioned that the couple had relocated several times in the past year, even reportedly moving to Canada after the 2024 elections. Renee was previously married to comedian Timothy Macklin Jr., who died in May 2023.
Before the tragic incident, Renee and Rebecca operated a small home repair business, B. Good Handywork LLC, which was registered in early 2024 under their names.
The company, based at their prior Kansas City address, focused on performing various repair and maintenance projects for homes.
Just a few months after the death of Macklin, Renee filed a petition to change her last name to align with her partner’s, stating she wished to share the same surname. Notably, she mentioned having three children, including one shared with Macklin.
This unfolding situation continues to raise questions and provoke strong reactions, highlighting the complexities often involved in such incidents.
